time for tea


What a lovely time of year this is - especially for taking time for tea (: Here a few of my favorite tea tips and a couple of quick, delicious tea sandwich filler recipes.

...always begin with cold water

...never boil tea leaves or tea bags

...try using a teaspoon or two of your favorite fruit preserves in your cup to sweeten it, instead of sugar or honey -- strawberry, cherry, or peach would be a great place to start

...make ice cubes with leftover hot tea -- adding these to a glass of iced tea later will not dilute it as water would

Apricot Tea Sandwiches - mix 4 oz softened cream cheese very well with 2 tablespoons of apricot jam. Use this as a spread with very thin slices of chicken or turkey.

Celery Walnut Tea Sandwiches - this seems like a very unlikely combination, but it is scrumptious with tea. Mix 4 oz softened cream cheese with very finely chopped celery and walnuts (the amounts of these are to taste, so enjoy tasting as you mix). Spread a moderate amount (not too thinly) on white or wheat breads.

Perhaps it’s time for a “Welcome September” tea party! How fun ♥
